Global operates as a Joint Underwriting Agency on behalf of a number of leading Insurance Companies (Insurance Pool members). Global is a full-service agency with authority for underwriting and claims delegated to Global by its participating Pool members.

Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Head of Claims, Canada, the Aviation Claims Adjuster role supports our Claims and Underwriting Teams. A key part of the role is to provide a claim experience that maximizes client satisfaction and helps to deliver top and bottom-line results for Global. The Aviation Claims Adjuster is expected to provide technical expertise across our general aviation and aerospace/products claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the various insurance products and their functions offered by the Company
  • Under the guidance of Senior Claims Adjuster and Head of Claims, adjust and process claims presented to the Company in accordance with the Claims Manual
  • With guidance from management, assist in the negotiation of acceptable settlements within the coverage
  • Monitor the work of service providers and seek to influence the handling of the claim, as necessary to protect Insurers’ and Policy Holders’ interests
  • Establish and maintain appropriate reserves for all claims in accordance with the Claims Manual
  • Assist Head of Claims with preparation of management information, data mining and data cleansing
  • Comply with the Claims Manual along with other instructions from management to deliver excellent customer service
  • Manage personal workflow and develop networks to stay informed and knowledgeable of market trends and developments, while advising management and colleagues as appropriate
  • Act as an effective ambassador for Global Aerospace and its Claims Services at every opportunity
  • If appropriate, establish separate Global reserve if leader’s reserve is inadequate
  • Process claims transactions presented to the Company electronically
  • Business Travel as required

In conjunction with Head of Claims and the Senior Claims adjuster, consistently ensure:

  • appropriate reserves are established in a timely manner on lead claims
  • authority limits are not exceeded
  • compliance with guidelines for service providers is monitored
  • compliance with the conflicts policy and procedures is maintained
  • timely communication is managed with the Claims team, regarding important and relevant issues, as they arise
  • instructions are clearly understood by brokers/service providers
  • provision of excellent service to brokers

Preferred Education Level(s):

  • Recent graduate at degree level
  • Diploma/certificate graduate in a relevant Aviation program
  • CIP qualified or working towards designation
  • Other relevant Aviation Industry experience (AME etc.)

Experience:

  • Administrative experience in an office environment
  • Knowledge of standard software packages e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data to analyse trends and perform statistical analysis

  • Excellent attention to detail and keen ability to prioritise and organise a high workload
  • Strong self-motivation skills with an ability to make swift decisions
  • French language skills desirable
